Home Improvements

Dear Jen,

Our second bathroom needed to be remodeled. The floor was cracking and peeling, the tub was a mess, and it was old and decrepit. After looking at it for years we finally decided to do something about it. We found books on remodeling bathrooms with an idea in mind. We both collaborated on our elaborate bathroom. We both knew we wanted a steam shower as one of our getaway spots had a huge steam and we fell in love with the feeling of the steam. I personally wanted a Jacuzzi tub, and lots of ceramic tile from the floor up the wall. Well, we found our tile. We then found a great guy that literally worked sometimes through the night, his choice, not ours to install our tile. My husband also installed heat within the floor. Gotta warm those tootsies after a shower or bath you know. We used an older man who is the sweetest guy to help build the frame of our new expanded bathroom. We found all the hardware in brushed nickel to add to our shower, tub, and sink. The name of the sink and tub is Victorian, perfect! The tub is a corner Jacuzzi with 12 jets, lighting for ambiance, heated, of course and could literally fit 3 to 4 people. It’s huge, so much fun!

We vaulted the ceilings, installed skylights, can lights, and took out the stairs going from the hallway down to the cellar, as to expand the bathroom by about 5 feet. You realize that this was our wedding gift to one another. It was a lot of fun hiring our own contractors and working together to bring this project to life.

I am so proud of the wonderful things that we have accomplished together. When I walk into our bathroom there is a feeling of accomplishment and excitement. The fact that we did this as a team was no small feat. Remember when hiring contractors look around, ask for references, and don’t settle. You to can be part of your own home improvement. Good luck and good building. You go sisters!
